We are able to treat WorkCover injuries after being referred by your doctor. There is no charge to you for a WorkCover treatment.
We offer health insurance fund rebates at point of payment.
Our Practitioners
John Mason, the clinic director, is a registered Chinese Medicine Practitioner and a specialist acupuncturist. He has been in continuous, full-time practice since January, 2000 and has lectured in acupuncture at Melbourne College of Natural Medicine.
He founded Port Douglas Acupuncture in 2006 after selling his Melbourne clinic and moving north to this amazing region.
Over the years John has studied a number of different acupuncture protocols but now uses principally Balance Method acupuncture and Tung style acupuncture because he finds these protocols to be the most effective and efficient in achieving results for his patients.
Although principally an acupuncturist he also prescribes Chinese herbal medicine for his patients where necessary.
Luciano Bortolanza is a registered Chinese Medicine Practitioner in both Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine. He has trained in Sydney, Nanchang (China) and Adelaide.
Like John, he uses principally Balance Method and Tung style acupuncture, but also frequently uses 5 Element and TCM acupuncture protocols.
Luciano has a special interest and training in women’s health including menstrual problems, fertility and obstetric management. He holds a post graduate diploma in Women’s Health and has a wide experience in treating such problems.
He ran his own busy clinic in Adelaide for over fifteen years and worked as a senior lecturer in acupuncture at Endeavour College of Natural Health in Adelaide before moving to this special place in 2023.
